ASUS Reveals Most Powerful & Power-Efficient Eee PC

The $399 Eee PC 1000HE model is now available for pre-order at $374.

ASUS has announced the newest 10-inch Eee PC netbook featuring the Atom N280 Processor (1.66GHz, 667MHz) and high-capacity 6-cell battery. This Eee PC 1000HE model is outfitted with 170GB of Hybrid Storage – 160GB of internal hard disk drive and 10GB of file-encrypted Eee Online Storage.

Thanks to the new high-density battery pack and ASUS' proprietary Super Hybrid Engine technology, the 1000HE is capable to provide nearly 9.5 hours battery life. The Eee PC 1000HE netbooks will be released in two colors - Fine Ebony Black and Blue (for North American buyers).

Rest of the specs are pretty much standard and similar to other Eee PCs - Bluetooth 2.0, 802.11n WiFi, Webcam, Card Reader, etc. There is one noticable design change on the newer 1000HE model - ASUS has adopted the "chicklet" style keyboard generally seen on MacBooks or select VAIO Notebook PCs.

Pricing & Availability:

Although the pricing details have been revealed (how's that for a change), MUM is the word on the approximate release date.
