In terms of design, when compared to Thinkpad T410, this model does not have any significant change. However, a good 16:9 display has been incorporated which is an add-on to the previous model. T420 makes use of Intel Core i5 processor, which works at 2.6 Ghz and also supports the hyper–threading feature. 4GB of DDR3 RAM, Hitachi Travelstar hard drive have been accommodated in this machine. The screen resolution has been improved when compared to the previous models. Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 has been used which increases the processing speed.

Keyboard – Mouse – Webcam

There is barely any change in terms of layout and design aspects related to the keyboard, touchpad and the left and right clicks. But the finger print scanner has been re-positioned and placed on the right side. The in-built microphone boasts of noise-cancellation feature which is useful for those who use online audio and video conferencing facilities. A 720p HD Webcam is great for video calls.

Connectivity – Ports – Battery

Intel LAN and WLAN cards are included in this machine. Apart from that, there are three USB 2.0 ports and regular microphone in and audio out jacks. In terms of I/O ports T420 isn’t at pace with its competitors in this segment. The 9 cell battery life promises to provide backup for atleast 15 hours, which is a great plus point for Lenovo fans.

Build – Design – Hardware

Latitude E6410 has a sturdy metal top and bottom panel which is preferred in the business segment. The fingerprint proof top with gun metal finish gives the laptop a sexy and stylish look. Dell offers this model in Core i5 or Core i7 CPU option. There is an inbuilt NVIDIA graphic card which can be upgraded to NVS3100 at an additional cost. The hardrive is protected with a shock absorber and the drive heads are bump and drop proof. The 14.1 inch screen has an LED backlight, and comes with an antiglare coating. Good battery life is the USP of this machine.

Keyboard – Mouse – Webcam

The keyboard on E6410 is amazing. The keys are soft and once you tap on the key you can see the backlight too. Being a business laptop this machine lacks a separate number pad. It also comes with a pointing stick and a touch pad, but both of them are not upto the mark, as the pointing stick is not very responsive and the touchpad lacks sensitivity. The inbuilt 3.0 megapixel camera captures good quality images in bright light condition.

E6410 is bundled with standard I/O ports like 3 USB 2.0 ports, a firewire port, a memory card reader on the front panel, RJ-45 LAN slot, headphone and mic jacks. The DVD Burner can be easily slid from the chasis of this machine. It lacks the much wanted DVI and HDMI output ports. Battery life is excellent and worth the cost of this popular DELL machine.

The laptop design is on the lines of Aspire One Netbook and weighs approximately 3 pounds. Its easy to carry this laptop and it is powered by Intel Core i5 for solid performance. The body is fingerprint proof, and sturdy enough to withstand the jerks and bumps. This small machine does get heated up, but it’s manageable. The 11.6’ screen is compared to a netbook screen, but its far better than any netbook available today.

Keyboard – Mouse – Webcam

The keys are textured, the keyboard is spacious and like all Acer laptops this machine too has flat keys. The right and left Shift keys are big in size, useful to manage all those shortcuts. The touchpad is almost invisible, but quite sensitive and responds well to your touch. The right and left click buttons are equally comfortable. The inbuilt web camera serves its purpose and its good for those frequent Skype video calls.

Build -Design -Hardware

Don’t know what the MSI designers were thinking when they thought of this machine, but at the price that the laptop is offered, no one will seriously complain about the design, or the lack of it. The top lid is metal -thankfully. Glossy piece of metal, done in pretty colors is always attractive, but how does MSI still comes out looking ugly, is beyond anyone’s guess. The hardware specs is where the money feels it’s worth, for this laptop. Intel Atom’s processor, with a core speed of 1.66GHZ is a decently performing, multitasking enabled processor. It is good for casual to medium-heavy computing. The screen is a 10 inch display with a maximum resolution of 1024×600. There is no separate GPU, but it does have Intel’s GMA 3150 chipset that provides enough juice for most multimedia applications. The laptop has a 1GB of RAM, and 160GB of HDD.

Keyboard -Mouse – Webcam

Just like the design, the keyboard too is ugly. It has that glossy surface underneath the keys, which is tacky to look at. Though some may find it attractive, it really is a turn off. The keyboard has chiclet style key layout, and surprisingly, the keys are sturdy and are responsive to even heavy typing fingers. They don’t feel fragile as they appear, and are great, due to the key size, for error free fast typing. The small dimension offers no room for palm rest, which is felt missing for such a great keyboard. The trackpad has a surface that resembles the surface of the top lid. The crossed out lines, even on the trackpad don’t look good. The trackpad is good, but its small size prevents it from being used to its full potential. There are no spare keys for left & right clicks, but it has been integrated into one single bar that sits at the bottom of the trackpad.

What could take you by surprise that this laptop has almost all the feature of a fully fledged laptop, which includes 3 USB 2.0 ports, one microphone-in and headphone-out jack, A D-sub port for video connectivity and RJ45 LAN port. The laptop lacks a physical optical drive.

Build – Design – Hardware

The design is a bit too boxy in this segment of laptops. When others are offering over the top, curvy designs, HP on the other hand decided to keep it simple. There are no visible curves, or rounded edges, on this laptop. Even then, due to its metal finish design, the laptop, though surprising, looks classy. So classy in fact that it can used to flaunt at a café, or to impress most of your friends. The color options are black, rusty red and fluorescent white. HP’s Probook as the name suggests is a multimedia workhorse that can have multiple usages, be it watching movies, playing causal games doing spreadsheet or listening to music. The AMD 2GHz triple core processor is great at multitasking, and offer’s a zippy performance even for everyday tasks. The laptop has an ATI mobility Radeon HD4250 GPU, which is decent high performance graphic solution in today’s generation of multimedia laptop. The other noteworthy hardware features are a 4GB 1066Mhz DDR3 RAM & a 500GB 7200rpm HDD.

Keyboards used in most 15” laptops are comfortable to use. So is the one that is used in HP’s probook 4525s, which has decent size keys that provide tactile feel. The position of the keyboard is shifted to the front and this leaves ample of palm-resting space, which becomes so wanton during hours of typing and laptop use. Within this space, they have included the trackpad, which is not in the middle but a little to the left of the laptop. Its offers relative touch sensitivity, and you don’t have to jab your fingers on the surface to move the pointer around. Not a slightest touch, bit a bit of finger moment can do the trick. There are no physical buttons on this trackpad for left & right clicking, but the integrated clicks are easy to use and difficult to get used to.
