Much talked about "dual-OS" Acer netbook is expected to be launched as early as August 2009.
While you may not be able to get your hands on netbooks with Chrome OS anytime soon, there's a good chance to see Android netbooks later this year. Acer is expected to ship Android-based netbooks starting next month.
According to reports, these Acer netbooks with Android will also have a dual-boot option to load Windows XP - both OSes will come factory installed. So, Acer will still have to pay Microsoft for the Windows XP license and there goes your chance to see more affordable netbooks. Microsoft charges approx. $25 for every Windows XP license on netbook.
In related news, both ASUS & MSI are developing Android-based netbooks but are reported to have no intentions of releasing them in 2009.
