Alienware Introduces Low-Priced Desktop Gaming Computer Area-51 750i

November 13, 2008 at 03:11:55 PM, by Blair Mathis Rating: 4 out of 5

Alienware's newest gaming desktop is a low-priced, high-end gaming rig designed to meet the needs of all gamers.

The latest Alienware is something many would have thought impossible just a few years ago - a serious desktop gaming computer from Alienware with a starting price of just $1049.

The latest machine - the Area-51 750i - is an Intel quad-core/dual-graphics desktop designed to be customizable for any gamers needs.

Specs are very impressive, with an Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650 quad-core processor, an NVIDIA nForce 750i motherboard with 45nm Intel quad-core support, the option for either dual-ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 graphics cards or dual-NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280 graphics cards, 8GB of DDR2 RAM, a PCI-Express 2.0 slot, and pre-loaded Windows Vista 64-bit.

"The Area-51 750i desktop is one of the most robust computers we've ever developed," says product marketing manager for Alienware Marc Diana. "There is something here for everyone -- from the entry-level system to the high-end maxed out configuration -- the Area-51 750i promises an experience that will fit your gaming needs and your budget."

Tech words explained

"Clock Frequency"
This term refers to the speed of the computer component. Clock frequency uses “hertz” (Hz) as its base unit. Note that 1 Megahertz (MHz) refers to 1,000,000 hertz, while 1 Gigahertz (GHz) refers to 1,000 MHz. This number refers to the number of cycles the CPU can process per second. Hertz refers to the number of cycles per second the CPU operates at, similar to how a car engine runs at different RPM’s (Revolutions per Minute). Faster clock frequency usually suggests faster performance, but some processors and their components are designed to do more “work” every cycle.
