ASUS UL80JT Extends Battery Life With New Switchable Technology

ASUS' UL80JT is a gaming laptop equipped with a new ultra-fast method for switching graphics, promising exceptional battery life without necessarily hampering the use of your graphics card.
The UL80JT is a 14" notebook with an Intel Core i7 CPU that can be overclocked, as well as an NVidia GeForce 310 GPU. However, what is most notable about this laptop is the "second-by-second" automatic switching mechanism, which instantly moves you from discrete graphics to integrated graphics, rather than requiring you to switch manually like older switchable technology does. As a result, ASUS promises 12 hours of battery life while the automatic feature is enabled.
Availability for this laptop is not yet known, but it was spotted recently at CES by
Ars, who predict a price of around $1000.
