Dell's sleek and ultra-thin business notebook offering, the Latitude Z600, will catch eyes and thin wallets. It really looks good, and packs some decent features too.
For starters, the 16" Z600 is advertised as "the world’s thinnest and lightest 16-inch laptop," measuring a mere .5" and tipping the scales at 4.5lbs. The notebook can come with either the ULV Intel Core 2 Duo SU9400 or SU9600 CPU, up to 4GB DDR3 RAM, up to 256GBx2 SSD storage, and either a 4-cell or 8-cell battery. Less spectacularly, graphics will be provided by GMA 4500MHD integrated graphics.Other features include a 2MP integrated webcam, face recognition software and business card reading functionality, an integrated fingerprint reader, a backlit keyboard, multitouch touchpad, and 802.11n, Bluetooth, DisplayPort, 1USB port and 1USB/eSATA port. There is no optical drive.
Interestingly, the notebook has a preliminary shipping date of October 21 and is currently slated to run Windows Vista. Pricing starts at $1799, but expect to pay more for the high end features.
