Dell's XPS M1530 & Studio 15 Laptops Get Ubuntu Versions

Ubuntu 8.04 factory installed on XPS M1530n & Studio 15n laptops. Available only to the U.S. buyers for now!

Following 13.3-inch XPS M1330n laptop, Dell has announced new laptop models which come pre-loaded with latest version of popular Linux distro Ubuntu. The M1330n has been selling with pre-installed Ubuntu for over 6 months now. The new laptops to get Ubuntu 8.04 are 15.4-inch XPS M1530 & Studio 15. Besides these, Inspiron 1525N is also available in Ubuntu flavor.

Apparently, the new XPS M1530n and Studio 15n are just "announced" (not yet available for purchase). Respective online customization pages for XPS M1530n & Studio 15n are not accessible so far. Only the Inspiron 1525N and XPS M1330n are up for grabs with pre-loaded Ubuntu. We'll keep you posted once they go live!

Tech words explained

"Clock Frequency"
This term refers to the speed of the computer component. Clock frequency uses “hertz” (Hz) as its base unit. Note that 1 Megahertz (MHz) refers to 1,000,000 hertz, while 1 Gigahertz (GHz) refers to 1,000 MHz. This number refers to the number of cycles the CPU can process per second. Hertz refers to the number of cycles per second the CPU operates at, similar to how a car engine runs at different RPM’s (Revolutions per Minute). Faster clock frequency usually suggests faster performance, but some processors and their components are designed to do more “work” every cycle.
