Sources from Taiwan said Dell ordered 1.2 million desktop computers and 800,000 notebooks with AMD processors.
The new Dell equipped with AMD processors are slated to arrive late in the third quarter or early fourth quarter, according to sources from Taiwan's manufacturing supply chain.
This would mean Dell would sell 15 to 16 percent of its desktop business and 18 to 19 percent of its notebook business equipped with AMD CPUs.
Dell is expected to announce its broader support in using AMD processors soon like its dual-core Turion 64 X2. Currently, they are only using AMD's Opetron processors for servers.
