You've Got Mail: You're Fired?

Radio Shack is reportedly terminating people \\\"electronically,\\\" i.e. via e-mail.
In the wake of Radio Shack's recent announcement of 400 job layoffs, employees were told to expect electronic notification of their termination.
However nobody expected an e-mail. The 'Office Space'-esque note read: "The work force reduction notification is currently in progress. Unfortunately your position is one that has been eliminated." Hopefully no employees will walk out of the office with a malfunctioning laser printer.
The move has surprised employees and industry experts alike, leaving all of them wondering why the former electronics giant couldn't spare some time to sit down with its employees and address their concerns. At least the severage package sounds decent:
Laid-off workers got one to three weeks pay for each year of service, up to 16 weeks for hourly employees and 36 weeks for those with base bay of at least $90,000, the company said.
First firings via text message, now e-mail, what's next? Messages left on employees' MySpace accounts?
