Intel Centrino Pro Platform Graphics To Be DirectX 10 Compatible

More details emerge on the Santa Rosa Mobile Platform
The Centrino Pro, codenamed Santa Rosa, is the next generation mobile platform from Intel scheduled for release in May 2007. We finally have more details on the platform which is currently in the finishing stages getting ready for a mass release.
According to reports, it is now confirmed that the integrated graphics engine on the 965GM mobile chipset, codenamed Crestline, will feature DirectX 10 compatibility. The graphics core will be a variant of the GMA X3000 and will be more than capable of running Windows Vista's Aero Glass Interface. The DirectX 10 capabilities of the graphics core is all set to take gaming and multimedia to new heights on notebook computers.
In other details, Crestline chipset will be paired with second generation of Core 2 Duo 7xxx processors on the Centrino Pro platform. The new Core 2 Duo's will feature a front side bus speed of 800 MHz. At this time, it is unclear about the maximum allowable graphics memory for the integrated graphics. It is very likely for the GMA X3000 DirectX 10 compatible graphics could allow up to 384MB of shared memory similar to the desktop counterpart. As the release date gets nearer, we hope to get more details on the same.
The name and specifications of the new Core 2 Duo processors for notebooks are as follows. It is interesting to note that there would be two low voltage variants ideal for powerful ultra-portables with good battery life.
