Dimension E521 will be the first Dell product to be sold via Wal-Mart.
Wal-Mart plans to sell the Dimension E521 in more than 3,000 retail locations in the United States.
Earlier this week we reported, Dell founder Michael Dell's plan to partner with retailers & third party distributors. Now, we have some official confirmation on the same. Sorta.
Samir Bhavnani, research director at Current Analysis West said, "Finally, Dell has addressed one of its main problems by giving customers a chance to touch and feel its products. Dell's going to be touching a lot of people who weren't necessarily looking to buy a PC."
Founder Michael Dell first hinted the same in an internal memo to employees which said, "The direct model was a revolution. It's not a religion."
Dell has always sold computers directly to its customers involving no middleman. The same model ensured Dell to be the leading system manufacturer in the world for many years, but times are fast changing and the company has seen rapid decline in market share. It was about time Dell entered new territories to improve sales.
This tie-up with Wal-Mart could be the thing which steers Dell on the right track again!
