How Good is Acer's New Gemstone Design?

The Gemstone concept was developed by the same designers as the BMW automobiles.
Acer ensures that Gemstone design for Aspire series notebooks leaves everyone stunned for the good or the bad!
Guys over at CNET Asia, have got their lucky little hands on the new Aspire 5920 notebook with the Gemstone design. How good is the new design exactly? Not much according to them. Here's why:
The lid is glossy black, which is there for many a laptops in the market. No points for that. The keyboard is not milky white as the initial pictures depicted. It is greyish to say the least. The design of the notebook chassis with respect to USB ports is not great either. There are some serious flaws here. There are three USB ports on the left side, while a lone USB port on the right side. The silly thing regarding this lone USB port on the right is that it is just 1mm away from the optical drive. If you use any USB device on this port, it will pretty much hinder the opening of the optical drive tray. Bad, Seriously. The USB logo is even printed in the wrong place - above the DVD drive.

While these may be the not-so-good things Acer would like to reflect at to fix, there are a few plus points according to CNET. The Webcam doubles up as a sort of car door handle for opening the sexy 15.4-inch screen. Plus the shortcut buttons on either side of the keyboard are just like those on either side of a BMW car stereo. Ironically there's even a button that does absolutely nothing - like the dummy switches on cars that haven't got all the optional extras
The Aspire 5920 is a 'Santa Rosa' platform based notebook with a 2GHz Intel T7300 CPU, 2GB of 667MHz RAM, and a Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT GPU. This notebook is expected to retail for a price tag of around $1,720.
