Based on the Griffin CPU and RS780M chipset, Puma is AMD\'s answer to Centrino 2!
One of the main reasons for the success of Intel's Centrino branding has been its strict set of CPU, chipset and other component requirements. AMD seems to have finally realized this fact and they are burning the midnight oil to deliver a notebook platform which can directly compete with that of Intel not just in the budget market but also on the performance front.
Puma is AMD's first complete mobile platform featuring dual core Turion Ultra processor and RS780M chipset. These high-end Turion Ultra laptop processors will feature 1MB of L2 Cache and support DDR2 667MHz & 800MHz memory. They would continue to be based on the existing 65nm K8 core. The Puma platform promises improved energy efficiency to offer better battery life.

Other Details on AMD's Puma notebook platform:
- AMD has revealed that each core of Turion Ultra can also run at independent frequencies. This allows the cores to dynamically shift frequency levels while executing a thread.
- The RS780M chipset includes an DirectX 10 compliant graphics sub-system which AMD says is four to five times faster than Intel Page:1/1
