Acer\'s latest multimedia powerhouse may truly redefine mobile entertainment.
Remember the Acer TravelMate 8204, with its plethora of cutting edge features and high price tag?
Well say hello to the Aspire 9800, the multimedia desktop replacement version of the 8204 in our books. While the TravelMate 8204 was somewhat portable and highly feature loaded, with more of an emphasis on performance and gadgets than multimedia, the Aspire 9800 looks like it is going to be all about multimedia and entertainment while not lacking in performance. The big eye catcher on this machine is its enormous 20.1" 1680x1050 LCD. While there have been a few 20" behemoths announced, they were pretty much all based on the same relatively bland chassis and are without Acer's flare for style and quality. Backing up this monster is a Core Duo processor, dual hard drives up to 240GB, NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600 256MB graphics card, integrated TV tuner, VoIP Bluetooth phone, and more features than you can shake a stick at. While we don't know when (or if) this is coming to the United States, it should debut in Europe around May. Expect it to cost at least as much as the $2500 TravelMate 8204!
