NVIDIA's New Business Notebook GPU

May 24, 2006 at 09:03:00 AM, by Thai Tan Rating: 0 out of 5

Introducing the NVIDIA Quadro NVS 300M, the latest in business machine graphics from NVIDIA.

Yesterday NVIDIA launched what they call the "fastest GPU for performance business notebooks."

While the distinction "performance business notebooks" is a little much, this new GPU look to offer a respectable level of performance for 3D applications in business notebooks which are typically restricted to uber-expensive high end workstation GPU's or low end integrated versions. The Quadro NVS 300M is identical to the GeForce Go 7600, right down to the number of transistors. But being a business-class GPU, we're not looking at raw performance here. Features and stability is where it's at.

In a business notebook users are looking for the utmost in reliability and stability from their machine. The hardware and software behind the Quadro NVS modules will have been tested and certified for each particular configuration and with dozens of commonly used applications to ensure the smallest possibility of conflict. The NVS 300M also features support for external digital displays up to 1600x1200, something not quite standard on consumer level notebook GPU's yet. Analog LCDs, DLPs, and plasma displays are supported up to 2048x1536 at 75Hz, ensuring compatibility with even the highest resolution displays. There is even support for composite, S-Video, and component video output up to 1080i resolution. Keep in mind while the GPU may support all of this, it is up to the notebook manufacturer to implement it.

There is another interesting feature listed on the NVS 300M's accolades, called "LCD Sharpening:"

Compensates for slower response time by overdriving color signals, thereby automatically eliminating Page:1/1

raising the bar my butt! I have had AT&T wireless since 1996, and the past 2 years have been the most dismal at best. I have no idea what is going on with their network, but calls are constantly being dropped, phones always saying "dialing" for long periods of times, and at times "busy" appears on the screen, and its not that the other reciever's line is busy. AT&T really needs to get its act together, I hate to reference this in, but I have been very happy with their service in the past. As for the last 2 years it has been hell. Maybe its due to so many customers combined (Cingular and AT&T customers as well as some who have switched form other carriers) but PAYING customers should not be hindered with service. AT&T has become a Microsoft, their products (services) are deteriorating, and they do not care what so ever in fixing it....but rather the bottom line and revenue! Keep it up and you will see loss in your customer base. In AT&T's case, maybe service might be better then. They may advertise all their great iphone features and media content, thei new tv programing on phones... at the end of the day I NEED TO MAKE A PHONE CALL, this is why I have a cell phone. I need to be able to get calls properly and make them as well. I am paying a good $115 every month for calls I can even make and recieve! I ask is this fair? Before you say well it might be his phone or where he lives... actually this is persistent with new AT&T phones I have gotten, 3 to be exact and I live in the NYC area where coverage by any carrier is expected to working. Last I checked it is 2008, I dont see why something so simple cannot function in a super power of a country with such highend technology. God sakes people in rural asian countries are getting better service. Sadly i was actually getting great coverage visiting a rural area in Asia.
