Complete with 8.9-inch WXGA LED-backlit screen, Atom CPU, up to 250GB HDD and Windows Vista!

Gigabyte is all set to enter the sub-notebook market with their new M912 sub-notebook which literally does it all - small & power efficient laptop, perfectly capable of use as a netbook, a Tablet PC too, and most other common computing tasks you throw at it.

This 1.3kg ultra-portable laptop from Gigabyte will weigh around 1.3kg including the 2.5" HDD. Specs wise: the M912 features 1.6GHz Atom CPU, 945GSE chipset, 1GB DDR2 memory, up to 250GB HDD, 8.9" WXGA LED-backlit swivel touchscreen display (phew!), 3 USB 2.0 ports, VGA port, ExpressCard slot, Bluetooth 2.0 and 802.11g WiFi. With its 4500mAH Li-ion battery pack, the rated battery life is 3.5 hours. Additionally, Gigabyte does mention that an external USB optical drive will be provided (optional).  Oh, this will come pre-loaded with Vista Home Basic and Linux depending on end model. So, both the camps should be happy.

Gigabyte M912 Netbook with Tablet PC Features

There's not much to hate here as both the specs and design look very impressive indeed. We just hope Gigabyte manages to release this quick and in sufficient quantities.
