Three new quad-core mobile "Clarksfield" Processors for Notebooks will be released by October.
Intel has released updated launch schedule and details on upcoming notebook processors. Three mobile quad-core chips for performance notebooks and two budget CPUs for ultra-thin laptops are all set for release later this year.
The highly anticipated Core i7-based "Clarksfield" Notebook CPUs will be available by October 2009. They will be released in three models as listed below. Each featuring four cores, Socket PGA-G1, DDR3 1333MHz memory and Turbo Boost support.
- Core 2 Extreme XE (2GHz, 3.2GHz TB, 8MB L3 Cache, 55W)
- Core 2 Quad P2 1.73GHz (1.73GHz, 3.06GHz TB, 6MB L3 Cache, 45W)
- Core 2 Quad P1 1.6GHz (1.6GHz, 2.8GHZ TB, 6MB L3 Cache, 45W)
It's interesting to note that these Core i7-based "Clarksfield" chips have surprisingly low TDPs compared to their desktop counterparts. The flagship XE model a TDP of 55W, while the rest have TDP of 45W. All models will have four cores with HyperThreading enabling 8 threads. They will lack IGPs (chipsets will have discrete graphics support) and run on the newer PGA-G1 socket. The Turbo Boost speed (mentioned as "TB" in the listing above) is enabled when the processor powers down some of its cores, and increases the clock speed of the cores that are available.
Intel also plans to offer new Celeron SU2300 and Celeron 743 CPUs for ultra-thin notebooks by the end of September.

Clarksfield is NOT "Core 2". It is "Core i7". Please read Intel roadmap from IDF.
