Lenovo Issues Battery Recall On Six ThinkPads
August 14, 2009 at 10:08:57 AM, by Daniel Shain
Lenovo has issued a battery recall for six members of the ThinkPad family.
The faulty batteries were displaying error messages such as "irreparable damage" and "battery cannot be charged" and were either severely limiting overall capacity, or charging normally and then discharging far too quickly. If you have a 60 or 61 in your model number chances are you are eligible for a recall, as the call has been issued on the R/T/X series in both of those numbers. There is a free diagnostic tool on Lenovo's website that can be used to check the condition of your battery. If you are affected, your replacement battery is free from Lenovo.
