Logitec to release Portable DVD player for netbooks
July 04, 2009 at 02:07:33 AM, by Kevin Gilbert
The player is capable of reading single layer as well as dual layer DVDs and can also be served as "boot drive" in case the hard disk crashes
With the size of netbooks becoming smaller and smaller, they are also removing extra components. One such component is the DVD drive. Many people think it is a waste as they don't use it anymore. But there are still situations a when they may come in handy. For example when you hard disk crashes, and you need to reboot to install a fresh copy of the Operating System. For such scenarios, Logitec has announced its new Slim Portable DVD player.
The DVD player is powered by USB and doesn't need separate power supply.
The player will be released in October initially for Japanese market with a tag price of $55
