Microsoft To Open Retail Stores This Fall

Just in time for its October 22 release of Windows 7, Microsoft will be opening up its own retail stores this fall. And watch out, because they are planning to have some directly next to Apple stores.
Microsoft recently hired David Porter, who had been involved with Wal-Mart, to head up their retail efforts. Apparently it's going well, as the announcement today confirmed stores will be opening up this fall. Microsoft hopes to benefit from the direct customer feedback, and promises to share the information with its partners and other stores. Not to mention the benefit of directly competing with Apple on its own turf.
If Microsoft stores can have some of Wal-Mart's success with Porter at the helm, they'll do well. The first stores will open this fall, with more to come throughout 2010. Page:1/1
