Apple recently slashed the SSD top of the line MacBook Air model by $500 so there is strong evidence a new refresh is underway. News.com reports the new MacBook Air will include a larger and better solid state drive - perhaps in 128GB or 160GB flavors. Additionally, new processors that will consume less and pump out more. That mean's the MacBook Air may utilize Intel's upcoming "Montevina" or Centrino 2 chip. These low power processors offer 25 watt for 2.4GHz, 17 watt for the 1.86Ghz and 10 watt for 1.2GHz. The current model uses 20 watt for the 1.8GHz.
The prediction also continues to say an enhance graphics chip based on Intel's GMA X4500 will also be rolled out and of course, potentially better battery life. No word on when the refresh will occur but we suspect around September to October time frame.
