Nokia Booklet 3G Priced for Germany Launch

October 07, 2009 at 03:10:51 PM, by Daniel Shain Rating: 0 out of 5

The Nokia Booklet 3G appears to have finally been priced. The price is different than was expected, but unfortunately, not in a good way for consumers.

A little over a month ago we discussed expected pricing for the ultrathin and ultralight Nokia Booklet 3G, but someone at Nokia must have made a typo, because it costs nearly as much in Euros as we originally expected it to in dollars.

The notebook is ultralight at 1.25KG (2.75lbs) and measures a mere .78" thick. It features a killer battery life of up to 12 hours thanks to a 16-cell user-removable battery. Aside from that, it sports some more standard specs including an Atom Z530 1.6GHz, 1GB RAM, 120GB HDD, and a resolution of 1280×720 on its 10.1" display. There will also be 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth, integrated 3G and hot-swappable SIM slot, Assisted-GPS, HDMI, 3xUSB, a card reader, a webcam, and interestingly enough, an accelerometer.

The final price, by the way, will be €249 ($366), plus a payment of €20 ($29) for 24 months. And the actual mobile service provided with it tacks on another monthly €25 ($36). That adds up to almost €750 Euros before the service fees. Nokia's blog post Page:1/1

Tech words explained

"Broadband"
Broadband connections are rapidly becoming a common occurrence in households. As opposed to dial-up (phone line) connections, broadband provides a higher bandwidth, which lets you transmit and receive data much faster. The fastest connections require fiber optic cables, but you can also get a broadband connection via copper (DSL, cable) or wireless (3G).
