Nvidia To Introduce Ion LE

August 05, 2009 at 08:08:43 PM, by Daniel Shain Rating: 0 out of 5

Nvidia is set to release a light edition of their Ion chipset, which will be slightly underpowered and lower priced.

NVidia's Ion was released to be a companion to Intel Atom CPUs and give computers running it a much needed graphics boost. While the full version will be capable of running DirectX 10 (which comes standard with Widows Vista - Windows 7 has DirectX 11), the light edition LE will only support DirectX 9.

This version is expected to be lower priced and will still be fully capable of running 1080p. Ions are generally paired with netbooks and Windows XP, making LE a great option for most users who probably won't do heavy gaming. Ion LE products will be fully compatible with Windows 7 and are expected to begin production soon. Page:1/1
