Windows 7 is around the corner, and PC manufacturers are making netbooks optimized to run the new operating system. Samsung and Lenovo are rumored to have delayed their new netbook models based on Nvidia's Ion platform until the release of Windows 7 in October.
Lenovo is planning to release the Ion based model of Ideapad S12 by the end of October. It's going to cost around $50 more than the standard model. This will be the first HD capable netbook. Lenovo might also be facing production issues, especially after Intel's strict specifications for the Atom N-series usage.
Samsung is also expected to announce the Ion based N510 netbook after the release of Windows 7. The netbook is based on Intel Atom N270 1.60 GHz processor, 1 GB RAM and 9400M (Ion) and will cost around $599.
