The netbook trend is now transferring to micro-laptops which are even easier to carry. uSmart has announced its new micro-laptop/MID featuring the Intel Z series Atom processor.
The uSmart M1C has a 4.8-inch WVGA screen and is powered by the Intel Atom Z530 1.60GHz processor. It has Intel GMA 500 integrated graphics which supports HD H.264 offloading and includes a HDMI port. However, the device has plastic body and a tiny keyboard and trackpad which make it difficult to type and navigate. Interestingly, the device supports Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 OS. Though Android should be more suited to the MID.
Due to the small shape and design, the MID weighs just 1.1lbs (0.5 kg). There is no announcement regarding availability or price but the onboard Windows 7 suggests its release by the end of this month.
