Verizon Wireless is expanding its wireless 3G network with the release of Gateway's LT2106u Netbook. The notebook will deliver 3G enabled broadband connectivity with basic features at a discounted price.
The netbook is based on the Intel Atom N270 1.60GHz processor along with 1GB DDR2 RAM and a 160GB Hard drive. There is a 10.1-inch LED backlit display with 1024 x 600 screen resolution. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi and 3G data service. There are three USB ports, Ethernet and a 3-in-1 card reader on board. It will come with Windows XP OS.
The included batteries are expected to produce up to 6 hours of runtime. The netbook comes with a two-year agreement at a discounted price of $150 after mail-in rebate as compared to the standard price of $500. However, it will come bundled with a broadband access package which will cost around $60 per month for 5GB of data transfer. The netbook will be available for retail in early October.
