Lenovo has announced Via's Nano powered Ideapad S12 netbooks.

Lenovo released the Ideapad S12 series netbooks equipped with Intel Atom based processor and Nvidia's Ion based motherboard with powerful onboard GPU. Lenovo is trying different flavors with its new netbook series with the announcement of the Via Nano based netbooks. This gives more customization options as well overall better performance in the HD video playback and graphics performance scenario. The new platform will include a VIA based Processor, motherboard and onboard GPU. These initial specifications are announced.
  • VIA's Nano ULV 2250 1.30 GHz Processor
  • 1 GB of DDR2 RAM
  • 150 GB 5400RPM HDD
  • Integrated Chrome9 HC3 graphics
  • Wi-Fi b/g
  • 12.1-inch WXGA Display
  • 6-cell Li-Ion battery
  • Staring Price: $449
The laptop comes with a genuine copy of Windows XP. The laptop is fully capable for playing HD 1080p content, which can be played over an external monitor. Until now, only Nvidia Ion based netbooks and laptops offered this capability. The price of this platform is also the same as Intel's based solution, which offers much less graphical and video playback capability. This makes the Lenovo S12 series stand out in the laptop line-up. The laptop is expected to ship in about four weeks.
