At one time, the word 'meme' was like the word 'geek'--it had a meaning that is all but forgotten...in fact, there's probably a meme somewhere that means that.
If you're uncertain about what a meme is, you either live under a rock or in Internet purgatory, so here's a quick brief for you: a meme is something that's akin to an 'insiders joke', an image, theme, catchphrase, 'shop, or other variation that has become viral on the web and has been remixed into many different varieties.
