ASUS N61 Now Shipping in the US

The ASUS N61, with SonicMaster technology that should produce excellent sound to go along with its other quality features, is now available for purchase in the US.

The ASUS 16" N61, first announced last week, has been seen on NewEgg in two versions. The first has an Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 2.2GHz, and the second sports a more powerful Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 2.53GHz. Both will come with 4GB RAM, a 320GB HDD, and a 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 220M. According to the original announcement, HDDs of up to 500GB will eventually be available as well as the choice for an NVIDIA GeForce GT 240M GPU or an Intel Core 2 Quad CPU.

Both notebooks will also come with ASUS' SonicMaster technology, which makes use of a paper-foam cone design to improve sound quality in tandem with Altec Lansing speakers. They will feature 802.11n, Bluetooth, HDMI/VGA and eSATA, 3 USB ports, ExpressCard, a multi card reader and Blue-ray. Both will also have a resolution of 1366x768. Lowest price is currently $799 for the T6600 version.

The ASUS N71 is expected to be available soon as well.
