Buying Guide Laptop Speakers

Unfortunately the average pair of built-in laptop speakers delivers a horrible listening experience, so if you want to listen to your iTunes collection from your laptop you will definitely want to hook up a pair of external speakers.
For ultimate portability the alternatives are battery-powered, or even better, USB-powered speakers. USB-powered speakers use the power supplied from the USB port to power the speakers – effectively using your laptop’s battery to provide the necessary juice.
The downside with USB-powered speakers is that they can never deliver more than a couple of watts of real output power because of the limitations of the USB port. This makes them less suitable for use in larger rooms or outdoors. If you have high demands in terms of volume you’ll need access to an outlet.
