Photo Face-Off! Let the battle begin!
Photo Face-Off
It's here...the day everyone has been waiting for. We have BOTH the Lenovo X300 and the Macbook Air in at the Secret Labs of Laptop Logic. And you know what, we're SURE someone was trying to crack our secret code to get these pictures out sooner. But, lone behold, if they only would have waited as patiently as you all have, they could have seen them like you are now, in all their glory - face to face, mano y mano, till the brutal truth be shown! Without further ado, let's take a looksee at the two laptops in Laptop Logic's newest photo face off: The Lenovo x300 vs. Macbook Air!

The Lenovo x300 on the left, and the Macbook Air on the right. One dark, one light - it's like they were MEANT to be fighting each other! Crazy! RIght off the bat, you'll notice that the x300 has ports, and a lot more than the Macbook Air - and this will follow suit and carried into the rear of the machine as noted in the above picture. You have a power port, a RGB output, ethernet, wireless switch and a USB 2.0 port. How many ports on the rear of the Macbook Air....nothing! Nothing is in the box! (UHF - good movie, you should watch it sometime...)

Here's a overhead shot comparing the footprint between the two. The sleek curves of the Macbook Air are wonderful to stare at, but the x300 has an AMAZING glassfiber reinforced lid, protecting your screen beneath it while NOT reducing your wireless reception as reported earlier HERE Fancy fruit logo on the right, standard business logo on the left.

Here's another shot, this time of the Macbook Air on top of the x300. The footprint between them is very similar regarding length and witdh...depth is another story however. Notice the status LED's on the x300's lid. Yep, those aren't on the Macbook Air either.

If thin was in to win - the Macbook Air takes the award. However, the x300 is no fatty either. In fact, the x300 weighs LESS than the Macbook Air (although not by much 2.93 lbs vs. 3.0 lbs, but it's still less!) and is only .73" thick vs. the Air's .76" height at it's point! Yes, the Macbook air goes down to a nice .16" towards the front, however, the largest thickness is less on the x300 than the Macbook Air. Bet you would've never guessed that!

On the left side of the x300, you get two more additional USB ports, a mic in and a audio out port. Hmmmm, what do you get on the Macbook Air? A power port.

To even things up, we thought we'd show you the port from the Macbook vs. the x300. You get audio out on both, but only Mic In on the x300. One USB port on the Macbook Air, 3 for the x300.

Here's a closer shot of the rear showcasing the ports of the x300.

Oh my, fancy that! The x300 has more ports, better battery life, and sports an optical drive - STANDARD. Suddenly, revolutionAIRY needs a packet of CATCH-UP.

Here's an overhead keyboard shot of the two. You'll notice that the footprint of the x300 is slightly bigger, and definaetly less space between the keys. However, you get a pencil nub (pointer stub?) and a trackpad. I'm not saying this is a good or bad thing because some people hate it, some people love it, it's all a matter of preference, however, it is avialable and something the Macbook Air does not offer. It DOES however offer a touch sensitive gesture trackpad and a backlit keyboard.

Close up of the x300 keyboard, no backlighting provided, however, the LID of the x300 does have an LED to light the keyboard, which, is still effective. More of that in the formal review of course, this is a photo face off.

Here's a shot of the impressively glowing backlit keyboard for the Macbook Air. We admidt, we do like it.

Removable what? Battery? Replaceable with a few screws...removable not so much for the Macbook Air. The x300 has this standard. Not to mention the x300 has the ability to add a SECOND battery to it's arsenal...ok ok, photo's face off only!

If power adapter envy is your thing, the Macbook Air might win you a few battles, but the x300's power brick isn't that much larger.
So there you have it, a photo face off for the Macbook Air and the Lenovo x300. We'll have the formal review pitting these two off in a short bit, but we thought we'd share the love and let you decide on who the real winner is in this Photo Face off.
