The Heavyweight Aspire 6920-6422 Notebook - Short Review
A hefty offering for a mobile computer, the Acer Aspire 6920-6422 is 7.7 pounds of pure performance at the consumer level. If one would compare it to most of the laptops in its category, it is a bit expensive at the retail price of $1,600. Nevertheless, with that amount you get sixteen inches of crisp widescreen with a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 – which is already considered as outstanding for its category. Pictures and videos are crisp and clear thanks to this, but those who are wattage-conscious will appreciate a lower level of brightness which is also adjustable.
This consumer level computer performance snappily thanks the Intel Core 2 Duo (2.5 GHz)processor. With 250GB hard drive, you have enough room to store not just all your office files but a lot of multimedia files as well (videos, music, etc.). Furthermore, lag is not an option here thanks to the 4GB of memory. A lot of the more-impressive laptops out on the market today have a respectable 3GB of memory to ensure quick productivity without any delays, but the Acer Aspire 6920-6422 takes it up one notch by adding another GB. The computer also features a graphics card of NVIDIA GeForce 9 series coupled with 512MB video RAM.
Plus Points
Running the Acer Aspire 6920-6422 is really fast, thanks to the 2.5 GHz CPU speed. This is fast compared to most notebooks out there, but one should really expect this for the price you paid for the laptop. The graphics card, NVIDIA GeForce 9500M GS, also contributes to the performance one can expect from this laptop as well as other notebooks which are priced in this category. Connectivity is enhanced thanks to the Bluetooth which is built in the unit, so you can hook up your headphones and sync up your mobile contacts seamlessly. The computer also has an HDMI port which one can easily use to output the audio and the video of the notebook to a TV monitor which is compatible with it. security issues are also given attention thanks to the fingerprint reader that helps you log in with just one swipe of your finger.
Weight Issues
Having said all that, the Acer Aspire 6920-6422 is heavy – really heavy. Most laptop owners can stand around five pounds of laptop weight on their shoulders, and the Acer Aspire 6920-6422 rests at 7.7 whole pounds which is a pound or two heavier than its counterparts (think the HP Business nc8430 which is similarly priced and is 6 pounds in weight). Also, the battery is not on par with the performance of the computer, as a full day of computing will require several charges.
Conclusion
The Acer Aspire 6920-6422 is one heavyweight computer with a lot of computing power. You might not want to bring this with you everywhere, but is best kept at home as a sort-of desktop replacement instead. Besides, all that multimedia entertainment options on a sixteen inch computer is best appreciated at home.
