Acer TravelMate 6493-6615 - Short Review

The Acer TravelMate 6493-6615 is a powerful thin and light notebook with a very reasonable price tag. This one is ideal for mobile workers who need full productivity in a portable bundle.

This notebook has an Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 chip that is built built on dual-core processor technology at 2.26 GHz.  It packs 2GB of RAM which is upgradable up to 4GB.  Its primary storage device is a Serial ATA-150 with 160GB of available storage at 5400 rpm.

Strong Features

The TravelMate 6493-6615 boasts a built-in finger print reader which enables the user to fast track log-in access.

Its Bluetooth capability allows for synchronization of mobile contacts and utilization of wireless headphones.  This notebook is WiFi enabled allowing you to maximize your home and office wireless networks.

The Drawbacks

The TravelMate 6493-6615 has a less-than-ideal battery life so you may have to recharge it more often.  This will lessen the versatility of the notebook for outdoor use as its battery may not last for more than 3 hours. This is a little too short for a 14-inch notebook.

Another letdown for this notebook is that it has no dedicated graphics card and its integrated Intel graphics media accelerator depends on shared RAM.  This will significantly diminish its capability to display high impact graphics. Playing demanding games is out of teh question.

Overall, the Acer TravelMate 6493-6615 is a respectable thin and light notebook that can perform well for your everyday computing needs.  With its 14.1-inch widescreen display resolution, you can get good value from this high end notebook.  It is powerful enough and, most importantly, this is one of the cheapest thin and light notebooks in the market.
