Short Review: Business Performance with the Acer Extensa 5620
Acer’s Extensa series has long been said as the reliable line. BY reliable, we mean it stands the test of time in many aspects – design, functionality and durability. True enough, it does not come as a surprise as to why many people, from small to medium scale business markets, like to stick to this computing device. And with the Acer Extensa 5620 laptop, you have a 15.4 inch reason as to why you yourself might want to get one, too.
Design
The Acer Extensa 5620 laptop is done in simple piano black, from exterior lid to everything inside. The lack of accents does not make it dull, to say the least, but rather evokes a simple yet professional takes on personal and business computing. A small silver Acer logo is stamped in the middle of the lid, as is mirrored on the bottom center part of the laptop’s LCD screen. Opening the Acer Extensa 5620 laptop reveals a nice and spacious keyboard that hardly flexes when carried around and about, with little space between each of the keys to make it less prone to dust and spillage. Keys are soft to the touch, and the same can be said about the track pad. The track pad, although nice and responsive to the touch without needing to adjust the sensitivity settings, are a bit small for such a spacious wrist rest. Ergonomics aside, it is assumed that the track pad is a little off-center to make it more comfortable for those who like to use it with either left or right hands.
The Acer Extensa 5620 laptop measures 14.2 inches in width, 10.5 inches in depth, 1.2 inches in height and weighs 6.4 pounds. This puts in under the mid-size laptops range. It is quite easy to bring around when necessary and great to use when presenting shows on the widescreen LCD display. Speaking about that, the LCD display on the Acer Extensa 5620 laptop is pretty good – its 15.4 inch TFT active matrix screen has a maximum resolution of 1280 x 800 WXGA and has 24-bit color support.
Processing Capabilities
The Acer Extensa 5620 laptop runs on an Intel Core 2 Duo T5750 processor on speeds up to 2 GHz. The RAM size is at a respectable 2 GB, but if you want you can also upgrade this up to 4 GB maximum. Processing several programs on the Acer Extensa 5620 laptop is not a hardship on a device with this kinds of specifications at all. Boot up speed is at under a minute and within second from boot up you are already connected to the internet if Wi-Fi is available.
Space
One thing to be “iffy†about with the Acer Extensa 5620 laptop is the 120 GB hard drive. Technically, it is enough for the following: simple document processing, a few games and some software which you might need for work. But if you think you can install a lot of games on it – especially the heavy kinds – then you might want to think again. Doing so will really slow down the laptop significantly, so an external hard disk might be a good option for that if you are really planning on having more files than the computer can manage.
