Short Review: High Performing Asus F6VE-B1 Notebook

Laptop hunting is a hard task to accomplish – especially if you are trying to bridge the gap between a high performing device and compact looks with portability. If you are in search of such a device, you might want to give the Asus F6Ve-B1 laptop a more scrutinizing glance. With its high end processor and a dedicated graphics card packed in one easy to tote around 13.3 inch notebook, you will probably think about getting this unit.

High Power

Most of the 13.3 inch laptops out on the market today have very long running times thanks to processors that are energy efficient. However, these laptops also come with modest performances. The Asus F6Ve-B1 comes with an impressive and high end processor, the Intel Core 2 Duo T9550. Because of this, the system is able to perform better than others in its class. Then again, it is puzzling to note why Asus ended up using an older DDR2 memory on this device (compared to the recent DDR3). But despite this baffling bit, the Asus F6Ve-B1 still works and processes things like a dream.

Other Features of the Asus F6Ve-B1

The Asus F6Ve-B1 also makes use of the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 graphics processor. It is not really a processor for hardcore gamers, but considering the fact that it has 512MB worth of graphics memory you can still play a good amount of 3D gaming as well as viewing of high definition video without the hitches and glitches in some devices. Clearly, this is a step up from other 13.3 inch laptops which end up using integrated graphics solutions. In terms of battery drain tests, the battery life on this device is a little bit below the average score for 13.3 laptops. If you will use it for your daily computing needs and work, you would probably be able to get around two hours worth of running time on this device. There is also a six cell battery, but it ruins the streamline of the entire casing. Still, this battery issue may be traced to the fact that the powerful processor has a tendency to eat up your battery time. If you want extended periods of working with the same high level of computing speed, you might want to bring your charger along for the ride. Other users of the Asus F6Ve-B1 also noted that the notebook runs a bit hot especially when placed on the lap – so it is best that you use a laptop cooler pad for it as well.

Despite a couple of downsides, the Asus F6Ve-B1 is a great 13.3 notebook that is easy to bring around with you and comes at a great price tag of a little over a thousand dollars. For the performance, you can also say that the price is already quite cheap. Besides, you can also have a lot of fun with 320 GB worth of hard drive – enough space to work and have fun with in one very reliable performing machine.
