Short Review: Fujitsu LifeBook MUI Notebook: Your Handy Tablet PC
The dilemma of most businessmen is looking for a computer that has a screen roomy enough to view document comfortably (read: less or no eye strain involved) yet reasonably lightweight enough to carry around as you go around the city doing your productivity tasks. As a result, a 13.3 inch offering seems like the perfect size that will satisfy the expectations of those who are hell-bent on productivity on the go without hurting their eyes in the process. Fujitsu makes the move on with the Fujitsu Lifebook T1010 MUI notebook. It is a 13.3 inch tablet pc which rotates to let you jot down handwritten notes and comes with an array of features one would commonly expect from a laptop that acts as your main axe.
Design and Looks
The design of the Fujitsu Lifebook T1010 MUI notebook is very easy on the eyes and quite easy to appreciate as well. The lid is made of glossy silver and is imprinted with a sort-of bar code-like design. The interior is made of matte silver and it retains the signature boxy quality of Fujitsu notebooks with the square type corners. The 13.3 inch widescreen LCD is nothing short of appealing. The overall design is nice and compact, but since it weighs in at 5.2 pounds it automatically becomes a heavyweight in the thin and light notebook category. This weight also makes it .5 pound heavier than other tablet PCs out on the market today like the Toshiba Portege M700 laptop. However, the size, dimension and weight of the Fujitsu Lifebook T1010 MUI notebook still qualifies it for comfortable compact computing for those who travel frequently and like to have the computing device with them at the same time.
Specifications of the Fujitsu Lifebook T1010 MUI Notebook
The Fujitsu Lifebook T1010 MUI notebook is powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 processor with 2.26 GHz speed. It has an integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD. Speed is a bit on the slow side based on standards at just 1 GB RAM (but upgradeable to 2 GB RAM). The hard disk storage of 80 GB is on a low, good thing it has pretty fast read speeds at 5400 rpm. Running a lot of programs with this kind of specifications yielded less than stellar results, especially with heavyweight programs such as Photoshop (for multimedia graphics) and Acid Pro 2.0 (for music creation). Nevertheless, it is expected that users of this laptop will be using it more for its basic productivity purposes rather than for programs that are better used on desktop computers or desktop replacements.
Battery Power
Running a drain test based on video playback showed that the Fujitsu Lifebook T1010 MUI notebook is able to provide you with enough juice to stay powered for two hours and thirty one minutes –and that is already with the six cell battery that comes with the package. Though the time is pretty much on the average side for laptops in such a category, it was hoped that a three hour battery life had been expected from a seemingly road warrior type of computer.
