Short Review: Asus V2S-B1 Notebook: Your Task Master

When it comes to notebooks, Asus likes to play up the entire demographic at the same time. From high end users to those who are just into budget computing, Asus has everything for every market. With the introduction of the Asus V2s-B1 notebook, it’s interesting to see just what kind of user will like this notebook and for what purpose given a thorough evaluation of it.

Laptop Build

Just by looking at it one can tell that the Asus V2s-B1 notebook is one attractive computer. With a predominantly black case adorned with silver accents, it looks sleek and stylish. There is also an integrated swivel webcam that might be a distraction at first but actually looks quite discreet as it blends in well with the rest of the laptop. Stamped with the signature Asus emblem right smack in the middle, everything looks very professional. Opening the Asus V2s-B1 notebook reveals even more favorable impressions. The screen lid has a latch less design which might require a bit of force (two hands) to open but nonetheless feels quite secure. The screen feels very solid with just a little flex and twist, but overall it seems very well built.

So-So Screen

The screen, putting it simply, is nothing exciting. It is not the best out there but it also isn’t the worst. Colors appear to be quite consistent and there are no dead pixels to be found. On the bottom horizontal part though there might be some leakage of light coming through but such ought to be considered for most models and does not appear to be too big of a concern when you watch movies on it. The glossy screen is signature Asus Color Shine, but shows some reflections when it is in front of a light. However, it is relatively easy on one’s eyes and clear from the lowest to the highest settings.

Everyday Computing

The Asus V2s-B1 notebook is well-suited for everyday computing needs. You can surf the internet, type documents and play both music and videos on it. This capability in handling productivity tasks is due to the Intel Core 2 Duo T7700 which is quite fast and is capable of handling several operations at the same time. If you feel like being demanding, you will note that it can even process up to five different programs at the same time with heavyweight programs such as Adobe Creative Suite. With 160 GB hard drive at 5400 RPM you have plenty of space to store your work and personal files. And if you plant to work out the house then take comfort in the fact that you can get around four to five hours worth of battery juice with the six cell battery that comes with it (just be sure to set it to battery saver mode).

The Asus V2s-B1 notebook is a smartly designed notebook that is suited for those who like to multitask and would like their notebook to keep up with them. Whether you are working it out at the office or simply having fun in an ADD-attack manner, the Asus V2s-B1 notebook will manage everything for you.
